Terms of Use
The complete terms that govern using GazeGuard, in plain language wherever the law allows it to be plain. Last updated July 7, 2026.
Acceptance of these terms
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and GazeGuard governing your use of the GazeGuard mobile application and related services (together, the "Service"). By downloading, installing, or using GazeGuard, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
The service
GazeGuard is a phone-wide content filter and attention tool. It blocks harmful and explicit sites through an on-device DNS filter, pauses short-video feeds and chosen apps through an accessibility service, and offers an optional Focus Lock mode that rests the phone to calls and camera only for a period you choose. GazeGuard is a filtering and self-management tool, not a guarantee of any particular outcome.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to create a GazeGuard account. If you are under 18, you may only use the Service, and in particular create an account, with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian. If you are installing GazeGuard on a device used by a minor in your care, you are responsible for that decision and for supervising its use.
Your account
Using GazeGuard requires signing in with Google or Telegram; your account backs up your progress, syncs it across devices, and powers account features. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your sign-in credentials secure through Google or Telegram's own account protections; we never see or store your password. You are responsible for activity that occurs through your account. You may stop using GazeGuard, or permanently delete your account yourself at any time from Profile › Delete my account, as described in our Privacy Policy.
Acceptable use
You agree to use GazeGuard only on a device you own or are authorized to manage, and not to attempt to reverse-engineer, tamper with, or circumvent the filtering, licensing, or security mechanisms of the app; interfere with, overload, or attack the servers or infrastructure behind the Service; use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or install it on a device belonging to another person without their knowledge, except a minor in your lawful care; or misrepresent your identity or age when creating an account.
Filtering is not a guarantee
GazeGuard is built to be effective, and we work continually to improve it, but no filtering technology is perfect. New sites, apps, and evasion techniques appear constantly, and some harmful content may not be blocked, while some harmless content may occasionally be blocked in error. GazeGuard is one part of a broader effort; it is not a substitute for judgment, accountability, or, where a child's device is involved, active parental guidance. You remain responsible for your own choices and, where applicable, for the supervision of any minor's device.
Device permissions
To function, GazeGuard requests certain Android system permissions, including VPN access (for on-device DNS filtering), Accessibility Service access (to detect and pause short-video feeds and chosen apps), and, for the optional Focus Lock feature, Device Administrator access (to lock the screen when a rest period is active). These permissions are powerful, and we use them strictly for the purposes described in the app and in our Privacy Policy. You can review, and revoke, any of these permissions at any time in your device settings, though doing so will disable the corresponding protection.
Intellectual property
GazeGuard, including its name, design, artwork, and underlying software, is owned by its developers and protected by applicable intellectual property law. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to install and use the app on devices you own or manage, for your personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service, or reverse-engineer or attempt to extract its source code, except as permitted by law.
Third-party services
GazeGuard uses a small number of third-party services to operate, including Google and Telegram for sign-in and CleanBrowsing as a DNS resolver for sites that are not blocked. Your use of those services is also subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices or availability of third-party services we do not control.
Termination
You may stop using GazeGuard at any time by uninstalling the app and, if you wish, requesting deletion of your account. We may suspend or terminate access to the Service, including account-linked features, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, misused the Service, or where required by law.
Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ALL HARMFUL CONTENT WILL BE BLOCKED OR THAT ALL BLOCKED CONTENT WILL BE HARMFUL.
Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, GAZEGUARD AND ITS DEVELOPERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE SERVICE, INCLUDING CONTENT THAT WAS NOT BLOCKED OR WAS BLOCKED IN ERROR, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT, IF ANY, YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless GazeGuard and its developers from any claim, demand, loss, or damages, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of your misuse of the Service or your violation of these Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of [YOUR COUNTRY OR STATE], without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be resolved in the courts located in that jurisdiction, unless applicable local law gives you the right to bring a claim in your own place of residence.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms as GazeGuard grows. If we make a material change, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you inside the app. Continuing to use GazeGuard after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
General terms
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full effect. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, form the entire agreement between you and GazeGuard regarding the Service, and supersede any prior agreements on the subject.
